Position Title: Construction Senior Project Manager
Location: Union City, CA
Pay Range: $124,500 – $160,000

Position Description:

Job Summary:

This position is responsible for managing multiple projects in construction and/or preconstruction phase, possesses capacity to manage large complex projects and multiple teams autonomously. This position delivers professional construction services that meet and exceed client needs and expectations, enhancing business relationships, and promoting the Company’s reputation and success. Additionally, this position serves as a company representative, responsible for the overall management of professional construction services including the planning, coordination, execution, completion, and financial outcome of the project.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities 

Essential duties and other responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Supervises Project Manager activities related to contract administration, change orders, submittals, and procurement.
  • Authorizes and approves all project transactions, purchase requisitions and change requests.
  • Plans, coordinates, and supervises all activities of personnel assigned to projects.
  • Responsible for profitability, schedule compliance, field and office quality assurance, client satisfaction, and cultivating prospective future business opportunities.
  • Manages and coordinates administration of subcontracts/trades including procurement and submittal process to meet scheduled requirements, cost controls, change order negotiation and closeout.
  • Resolves trade/subcontractor items or conflicts in accordance with project goals.
  • Initiates RFI’s to address issues with interpretation of plans and specifications, missing information, incorrect or incomplete information, and other issues that require the direction of the Architect and Engineers.
  • Ensures all project documentation is completed in a timely manner and maintained in the appropriate master project files inclusive of daily reports, accident reports, change orders and submittals.
  • Lead contact in the management of the owner/client relationship and negotiation of change orders and resolution of issues in accordance with project goals.
  • Coordinates and conducts Owner’s (OAC) meetings to include preparation of project meeting minutes.
  • Ensures the project site and company assets are secure and always maintains a safe and respectful working environment.
  • Obtains all necessary permits and licenses, directing or monitoring compliance with building and safety codes and other regulations.
  • Dedicated to achieving a “Zero Accident Culture” by developing and implementing to site safety protocols and adhering to OSHA safety standards.
  • Ensures adherence to insurance, labor relations, Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO), risk management, and quality control programs and protocols.
  • Collaborates with site Superintendent in obtaining government approvals and project completion including Certificates of Occupancy, project closeout process and final record documentation.
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.
  • Trains employees, plans, assigns, and directs work, appraises performance, encourages, and disciplines employees, addresses complaints and resolves problems.

Position Requirements:

Qualifications 

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Required Education and Experience 

  • A Bachelor of Science degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field or equivalent experience.
  • 7-10 years of project management experience in the field of water and wastewater treatment, water conveyance, sewers and sewer rehabilitation.
  • Experience managing vendor relationships and understanding standard practices in the design and construction industry, including knowledge of the design build process and associated documents and contracts.
  • Advanced knowledge of construction cost, scheduling, estimating, and engineering principals and techniques, as well as accounting principles.
  • Knowledge of various construction methods and materials, their characteristics, installation procedures and tolerance.
  • Strong computer skills and familiarization with software programs for job costing, scheduling, and estimating.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations 

  • A valid California Driver’s License
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (preferred)
