Title: Technical Lead (System Integration Division)

Location: Temecula, CA

Salary: $130K-$150K

 

Job Summary:

This position will supervise an interdisciplinary team of engineers to deliver timely and high-quality completion of automation systems in the Water and Wastewater industry. The primary focus of this role will be to understand project plans and specifications to provide system design and submittals. The role will oversee the team development working under the direction of the Engineering Manager and be responsible for the design and development of the systems integration solution.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Essential duties and other responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Understand project and customer requirements, including goals, objectives, and risk management approach.
  • Work directly with the project manager to define/monitor/control project scope, keep accurate schedule on all team deliverables, and budget.
  • Assign and oversee project tasks to electrical engineers and automation engineers.
  • Review and approve technical drawings and designs for accuracy and completeness for all team members and/or delegate to competent reviewers.
  • Collaborate with Engineering Managers, Technical Leads, and other stakeholders for the internal development of standard operating procedures, templates, and policies to integrate design activities into produce development cycle and resolve design related issues.
  • Recommend alterations for developments and design to improve quality of products and/or procedures for company standards and best practices.
  • Collaborate with other Technical Leads to preform quality control between production teams.
  • Develop, manage, and monitor an engineering quality program including monitoring of KPIs, standards and attend regulatory schedule meetings to address quality initiatives and ongoing quality issues.
  • Present and perform customer facing workshops for design of automated process controls.
  • Occasional on-site support and investigation.
  • Perform Engineering design evaluation, research, and compile project related information as required.
  • Actively coordinates with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Provide technical support to Sales team, develop project proposals, estimates, and provide technical expertise and Review of Project contract specifications and act as a resource for colleagues.
  • Collaborates with project team to determine operational constraints, challenges and impediments and provide input into project schedules.
  • Ability to interact with customer and project team in a professional manner.
  • Provides guidance and mentorship to staff ensuring the successful operation of assigned projects and career growth inline with company direction and goals.
  • Train and assist other employees on company standard processes, procedures and recommend an annual training plan for the Engineering team.
  • Create a career development and skill training plan for staff.
  • Provide feedback on Onboarding and training needs.
  • Perform supervisory tasks including reviewing and approving time off request, expense reports and timesheets.
  • Attend formal training programs, review journals and other publications related to the field. Help develop new skills or improve existing skills.
  • Project future resources needs and recommend staff additions (or reductions) when needed and recruit /select personnel to meet staffing needs.
  • Evaluate employee performance; prepare and conduct performance appraisals and coaching.
  • Ability to work independently and in team environment with minimal supervision.
  • Dedicated to achieving a “Zero Accident Culture” by developing and implementing to site safety protocols and adhering to OSHA safety standards.
  • Ensures adherence to insurance, labor relations, Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO), risk management, and quality control programs and protocols.
  • Attend Company events to represent the Engineering department.
  • Assist the Engineering department managers with strategic issues, long term goals and liaison with senior company management.
  • Maintain a personal billable rate of 50 percent. Maintain a team billable rate of 80 percent.

Qualifications 

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Required Education/Experience/Skills

  • Professional Engineering background with a minimum of five (5) years’ experience in the field of water and wastewater treatment process commissioning. A combination of education and experience may also be considered.
  • Must possess ability and knowledge of understanding process and instrumentation diagrams, Electrical Schematics and Construction Drawings.
  • Must possess a working knowledge of PLC, SCADA, and networking hardware/software.
  • Solid understanding of equipment and processes used in the wastewater industry.
  • Demonstrate ability to manage multiple and changing priorities in a fast-paced, deadline driving environment.
  • Ability to negotiate, persuade and work collaboratively with customers and staff.
  • Understanding of manufacturing workflow, including planning activities.
  • Manage engineering work and quality controls.
  • Familiarity with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and quality systems, such as ISO 9001 and lean manufacturing.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills; suitable for writing reports, evaluations, and plans.
  • Need to have excellent organization skills.
  • Proficient in W. M. Lyles Co. Standard Operating Procedures, scheduling, and company tools.
  • Ability to work in an active construction site.
  • Knowledge of Health, Safety and Environment standards.

Desired Skills/Knowledge

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree desired.
  • Registered PE or CAP a plus but not required.
  • Registered PMP a plus but not required.
  • Collaborative Delivery experience a plus but not required.
  • Experience in the Water / Wastewater industry.
  • Strong Knowledge and understanding of electrical design and control logic.
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD and SolidWorks drafting tools.
  • Knowledge of Bluebeam Revu.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

  • A valid California Driver’s License
  • Project Management Certifications such as PMP (Project Management Professional), CAPM are preferred but not required.
