Victor Valley Wasterwater Reclamation Authority Biomethane Project
Victorville, California
W. M. Lyles Co. (Lyles) has teamed with Anaergia, a global leader in both the agricultural and the waste sectors to deliver the Victor Valley Wastewater Reclamation Authority (VVWRA) Biomethane Project. This renewable energy project is designed to collect and upgrade biogas from existing digesters within the VVWRA and meet the specifications of SW Gas Rule 22. Sludge and food waste will be digested to generate biogas that will be conditioned and upgraded into pipeline quality natural gas and sold through the local utility agency.
This project utilizes Anaergia’s Omnivore™ high solids approach to the anaerobic digestion of wastewater and nutrient recovery with robust thickening systems to triple the capacity of the existing wastewater digesters. The VVWRA Biomethane project reduces approximately 6,000 metric tons of methane (2 million CO2 tons equivalent) per year, which otherwise would have been flared or released into the atmosphere.
The VVWRA facility leverages the existing wastewater treatment plant to meet organic waste recycling requirements, expanding yields of renewable energy, while partnering with publicly owned infrastructure.
