Semitropic Water Storage District, Stored Water Recovery Unit Phase 2K – XYZ Intertie Project

W. M. Lyles Co. was the prime contractor on this Progressive Design-Build project that connected portions of the District’s X, Y and Z Distribution Systems in order to provide irrigation water to an additional 3,500 acres of orchards and row crops. The project included the installation of 18,900 LF of 30″-36″ RCP pipelines, 30,200 LF of 18″-27″ PVC pipelines, 23 landowner farm turnouts and two 100 CFS booster pump stations.

Recharge facilities constructed included the East Side Canal Inlet Structure, 9,000 LF of water delivery canal, three interbasin structures, five recharge basins, and 30,000 LF of perimeter levee and fencing. Recovery facilities constructed included five water production wells with associated mechanical, electrical and surge protection facilities, 8,300 LF of 14″-36″ PVC and DIP well collection pipelines, a Chlorination and Metering Facility, 26,500 LF of 36″ DIP transmission pipeline, a 36″ steel pipe canal overcrossing, and a 24″ metered turn-in to the Cross Valley Canal.

Cawelo Water District, Conduits D & E and Pump Stations D, E & F

Three pump stations totaling 5,000 HP were constructed to deliver water through the new pipeline system. Canal improvements performed under this contract included a new headworks structure, a section of concrete lined canal, two reservoir inlet structures and a concrete canal check structure. Much of the work was constructed in/or adjacent to active orchards and row crops which required close coordination with landowners to minimize impacts to their operations.
